Setup

How to connect Walmart Marketplace and Gelato

Most of the work is a one-time setup. After that, orders move on their own.

  1. Create your Order Desk store

Start a free 30-day trial with full access to every feature and integration.

  2. Connect Walmart Marketplace

In Manage Integrations, enable Walmart and click Connect to Walmart to authorize Order Desk, or enter the Client ID and Client Secret from the Walmart Developer Center. Choose how often to check for new orders and which ship node types to download.

  3. Connect Gelato

Enable Gelato under Print on Demand and enter your Gelato API key. Then add the webhook URL from your Order Desk settings to your Gelato account so shipment notifications come back automatically.

  4. Add print details and automate

Save each product’s Gelato product code as print_sku and its artwork as print_url_1 on its inventory item, then turn on Add Inventory Details to Order Items. Create a rule that submits orders to Gelato when they’re imported.

Tip: send your first orders to Gelato as drafts so you can review them before they go to production.

Firstly - almost no other apps or services do what Order Desk does. It can stitch together anything to anything (different selling channels <> different fulfillment providers, on-demand printers, etc.).

FAQ

Walmart Marketplace + Gelato questions

Can Walmart Marketplace orders be sent to Gelato automatically?

Yes. Order Desk downloads your Walmart orders on the schedule you set, adds the Gelato product codes and artwork saved on your products, and a rule triggered by “Order is Imported” submits them to Gelato.

What does Gelato need for each order?

Each item needs Gelato’s product code (print_sku) and at least one artwork URL (print_url_1). You can add up to five print files per item, each with an optional print location.

Does tracking go back to Walmart?

Yes. Gelato sends shipment notifications to Order Desk through a webhook, and Order Desk sends the shipment details back to Walmart as orders are fulfilled.

How does Gelato know which shipping method to use?

Orders use the default mail class in your Gelato settings, or you can set up a Shipping Class Match to map each Walmart shipping method to a Gelato shipping class.

What happens if a Walmart order is canceled?

Order Desk can check Walmart for canceled orders twice a day and trigger a rule when it finds one. If the order has already gone to Gelato, you’ll need to cancel it with Gelato directly.

Does this work with Walmart DSV?

Order Desk supports Walmart Marketplace in the US, Canada, and Mexico, and Walmart DSV in the US. DSV uses each item’s GTIN instead of its SKU, and connecting both Marketplace and DSV requires a separate Order Desk store for each.

How much does it cost?

Every Order Desk plan includes all integrations, and pricing is published on our pricing page. New stores get a 30-day free trial with full access.
