Setup

How to connect Rithum and Shopify

Most of the work is a one-time setup. After that, orders move on their own.

  1. Create your Order Desk store

Start a free 30-day trial with full access to every feature and integration.

  2. Connect Rithum

In Manage Integrations, enable Rithum under Shopping Carts and enter the FTP credentials Rithum gives you. Select the retail vendors you sell to and add your warehouse details from Rithum Warehouse Management. Rithum requires a testing phase with Order Desk’s developers before you go live.

  3. Connect Shopify

Enable Shopify and click Connect to Shopify. In the Shopify integration settings, click Import Inventory Items Now to bring in your products with their Shopify Variant IDs, and turn on Download Shopify Shipments.

  4. Turn on the automation

Enable Add Inventory Details to Order Items in your store settings and Sync Tracking Numbers in your Rithum settings. Then create an “Order is Imported” rule, filtered to Rithum orders, with the Submit Order to Shopify action.

Tip: add the checkout data SetOrderNumber=1 with a rule if you want orders to keep their original order number in Shopify.

FAQ

Rithum + Shopify questions

Can Rithum orders be sent to Shopify automatically?

Yes. Order Desk downloads your Rithum orders on the schedule you choose, and a rule triggered by “Order is Imported” with the Submit Order to Shopify action sends them to Shopify for fulfillment.

Which retailers can I connect through Rithum?

Order Desk works with Rithum vendors including The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, Macy’s, QVC, Best Buy, Belk, BJ’s Wholesale, Bluestem, Hot Topic, Home Shopping Network, JC Penney and Staples. If you sell to a retailer that isn’t listed yet, set up a project with Rithum for that vendor and contact Order Desk support to have it added.

Does tracking go back to Rithum?

Yes. With Download Shopify Shipments turned on, Order Desk adds tracking to each order as it’s fulfilled in Shopify. With Sync Tracking Numbers turned on in your Rithum settings, Order Desk sends that shipment to Rithum, and Send Invoices adds an invoice.

My Rithum SKUs don’t match my Shopify SKUs. Will that work?

Yes. Save a code_replace value on each item in Order Desk to swap in your Shopify SKU as orders import (see the code replace guide). Then import your Shopify items so each one carries its Shopify Variant ID.

Can orders keep their original order number in Shopify?

Yes. Add the checkout data SetOrderNumber=1 to the order, manually or with a rule, and the original order number is sent to Shopify instead of a new Shopify number.

How much does it cost?

Every Order Desk plan includes all integrations, and pricing is published on our pricing page. Rithum requires every customer to go through testing with Order Desk’s developers, so there’s an additional one-time fee for each Rithum vendor you connect. Rithum also charges its own setup and testing fees.
